MEMORY AND CONSCIOUSNESS - SUMMER SCHOOL 2014

Memory and Consciousness
Plasticity, Brain Rhythms and Sleep

Summer School 2014
Tübingen (Germany), July 30 - August 02, 2014

Funding: Institutional Strategy of the University of Tübingen

The Summer School “Memory and Consciousness – Plasticity, Brain Rhythms and Sleep” is organized by young researchers of the Institute of Medical Psychology and Behavioral Neurobiology of the University Tübingen (headed by Jan Born and Niels Birbaumer) and the Collaborative Research Centre “Plasticity and Sleep” of the Universities Tübingen, Lübeck and Kiel (TR-SFB 654, headed by Jan Born). These research institutions focus on states of diminished consciousness and the modulation of brain states, as well as on the consolidation of memory during sleep and the underlying plastic processes. Consciousness, sleep and plasticity are strongly intertwined processes and the intensive combination of these research areas is unique in Tübingen. The Summer School is intended for Master’s and PhD students as well as for young Post-Docs and senior scientists working in the fields of memory and consciousness, with a particular interest in linking memory processes, brain oscillations and different states of consciousness. Our aim is to highlight the bridges between memory and consciousness at different levels of abstraction and in different species.
